Michael C. Barnes, Esq. (D.C., Va.)Attorney & Policy Advisor Mr. Barnes is the managing member of DCBA Law & Policy. Prior to establishing DCBA in 2004, Mr. Barnes served as confidential counsel in the White House drug policy office, where he provided executive direction on policies aimed at reducing substance abuse. Leading up to his presidential appointment, Mr. Barnes worked for The Perles Law Firm on anti-terrorism litigation and clerked for the law firm Arent Fox, conducting research on state and federal regulatory matters. Having served as a law clerk for a U.S. Senator and Editor for Americans Discuss Social Security, Mr. Barnes has significant experience with the policy making process, and has established a strong professional network in Washington, D.C. Mr. Barnes’ political experience includes serving as Senior Editor for Voter.com, field director for a U.S. Senate campaign, and special assistant for a presidential campaign. Mr. Barnes obtained his Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law, and was recognized by the Virginia State Bar Family Law Section as Outstanding Law Graduate in the Practice of Family Law. He earned a master's degree in international economic policy from La Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he lived and studied as a Rotary Foundation International Ambassadorial Scholar. He received his bachelor's degree summa cum laude from Flagler College. In 2007, Flagler College honored Mr. Barnes with its Young Alumni Achievement Award. |
